Religious Programme on the Islamic New Year ( Muharram ) Celebration

The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs had organized Religious Programme on the Islamic New Year (Muharram) Celebration was held at the Jami ul Alfar Mosque, ( Red Mosque ) Second Cross Street, Colombo  today 31^st July.   

It was  held under the patronage of Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Ibrahim Ansar.

Buddhasasana, Culture and Religious Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake and Minister of Environment Hafiz Nazeer Ahamed were grace the ceremony and Organizers drapes the golden shawl and presented mementos to the Ministers at this ceremony.  

Colombo District Ahadiyyah Federation General Secretary Ash Sheikh Mohamed Fakeehudeen and Ihsaniyyah Arabic College Vice Principal Ash Sheikh M.S. M. Faroodh was address in Sinhala and Tamil languages in significance of Islamic New Year Muharram.  

Students of Aden Academy International School Master Ayumal Ali Arshad, T.B. Jayah Zahira Maha Vidyalaya Rifkan Ahamed and Zahira College Colombo Zahir Nasar also delivered speeches

The introduction of Amana Thakaful Insurance Scheme for Chief Priests and Muazzins of Mosque  presented by Nawas Badurdeen of Sharia Manager, Amana Thakaful.  

Member of the Board of Trustee of the Red Mosque Rafeek Buharie proposed the vote of thanks.

Assistant Director of Department Anver Ali, Programme Coordinator Ash Sheikh Mufthi Mursi, Red Mosque President Ameer Sulthanb, Secretary Harris Anver, Colombo District Masjid Federation President Aslam Othman, Ulamas and Trustees of the Mosques were present.
